Around The Concertgebouw
Herman Rieken, percussionist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, will take you on a special walk through the history and stories of the Concertgebouw neighborhood! He will take you along places Gustav Mahler visited during his stays in Amsterdam, such as the former homes of conductor/composer Cornelis Dopper and composer Alphons Diepenbrock. You will also pass houses of other conductors, composers and musicians with whom Mahler worked or was friends.
With Herman as an enthusiastic guide, the walk is enriched with fascinating facts and funny anecdotes. The tour takes about 1.5 hours and will continue even if the weather is bad, so be sure to bring appropriate clothing. Meeting point for the start of the walk is the entrance (revolving door) at the Concertgebouwplein.
