A huge Mahler festival was organised in 1995 at The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Gustav Mahler’s entire oeuvre was performed for 17 days. Renowned international conductors including Bernard Haitink, Riccardo Chailly, Claudio Abbado, Ricardo Mutti and Simon Rattle came to the capital to play their interpretations of the Austrian composer’s diverse works. In Frank Scheffer’s documentary they talk about their fascination for Mahler’s work. He also shows them rehearsing with their orchestras and how their performances differ, yet mainly how similar their interpretations are.
